Free Weekly Schedule Template (Canva)
/Homeschooling is full of beautiful moments—but let’s be honest, it’s also full of so many moving parts. Books, lessons, projects, field trips, music practice, life skills… sometimes it can feel like you’re juggling a dozen plates while making lunch and explaining fractions at the same time.
One of my favorite simple tools for bringing a little more peace (and a lot more order) into our days is the humble weekly checklist. Not a rigid, soul-crushing schedule—just a clear, visual way for kids (and parents!) to see exactly what needs to be done. I add in the subjects we would like to touch on that day, make sure I add in any fixed-time weekly obligations, and include any reminders I might need. Remember, this humble little checklist is more about ME than the kids, since it helps me build a mind-map of our day, think through various scenarios, and helps me establish a rhythm from the very beginning.
Today, I’m sharing a free editable Canva template for a weekly student checklist. You can customize it for your family’s rhythm, print it, and start using it right away. More details below.
Why a Weekly Checklist Works
Here’s why I’ve found a weekly checklist to be such a game-changer:
It builds rhythm.
The kids and I can all see what’s expected without asking, “What’s next?” a dozen times a day.It creates a system without rigidity.
You’re not tied to rigid time blocks—you can flow through the list at a pace that works for you.It helps you actually do the lovely extras.
Things like art study, nature journaling, and poetry often get pushed aside in the busyness of math and reading. A checklist keeps them on the radar. It’s satisfying!
There’s something so motivating about checking off boxes. Even the littlest learners love seeing their progress.
